About Bold Design Challenge
During our 147-year-old legacy of creating masterpieces, we have inspired artists and been inspired by them. To continue this journey of design brilliance, we have partnered with The Hotel Show and curated The BOLD Design Challenge, an exclusive art competition that will showcase the boldest faucet designs by architecture and design community from across the Middle East.
This is an opportunity for you to design a lavatory faucet as per your form, finish, and infuse your personality, your perspective, or your life. This faucet could be inspired by the culture around you such as that of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Saudi Arabia. Or it could even be the story of your life or the team that you work with day-in and day-out while making the world around us wonderful.

- All entries should be original creations. Copies and direct inspirations will be disqualified. The organizers (Kohler Middle East Trading FZE and Dmg World Media Dubai Limited) are not responsible if the submitted designs are copied/ inspired/ plagiarized from any source that is not associated with the Participant. The design must not infringe on the intellectual property or copyright of any other person. And, In case of any challenge with respect to design ownership or intellectual property or plagiarism or copyright by a third party, the Participant must directly bear the responsibility.
- If design submission by the Participant has elements that are the copyright or intellectual property of some other person or legal entity, the Participant remains solely responsible and liable to obtain all necessary consents and permissions for the design, submission, and presentation and the organizer shall not be liable for any infringement of intellectual property rights or any violation of privacy or consent.
- Each Participant warrants and guarantees that all details and/or data submitted by him/her are accurate, complete, and correct, and not misleading in any way.
- No fee or cost has been charged from the Participants/ submitters by the organizers (Kohler Middle East Trading FZE and Dmg World Media Dubai Limited). No compensation or no refund can be charged by the Participant regarding any direct or indirect costs incurred for participating in the event. By submitting an entry, the Participant acknowledges and agrees to their personal information being a part of KOHLER’s database. Participant also authorizes the organizers to use submissions and personal information for communication and statistical purposes and for the purposes mentioned in the terms and conditions. However, the Participant can unsubscribe to any communication in the future.
- The organizers will be entitled, allowed, and authorized to take (and/or procure) photos of the Winners and their designs and will be allowed to use these pictures (with or without their notice). For this, the winners agree and consent to cooperate reasonably with the organizers. The Promoter has the right, permission, and authority to publish the winner's name, photographs, and their designs (at no fee) in any advertising, promotional, print, point of sale, or public relations material. The Winners herewith agree and consents to the aforementioned.
- The nature of any, and all publication, marketing, and/or advertising referred to above, will be determined at the sole and absolute discretion of the organizer, for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the date of determination of the Winner and Runners Up. All publicity and other materials will be the sole property of the organizer.
- If the Participant consents, the organizer will, after the Competition Period, be entitled, allowed, and authorized to showcase the submitted design of that Participant in any of the organizer’s showrooms.
- It is explicitly agreed and understood that entries once submitted cannot be cancelled or withdrawn.
- The decision of the jury shall be final. In case of a tie between the jury,Kohler shall have the final right to decide. The organizers will adjudicate on the matter in its sole and absolute discretion and its decision will be final and binding. Any decision taken by organizers shall be full and final and cannot be challenged in any court of law.
- The reward is non-transferable nor redeemable in terms of equivalent amount
- KOHLER is eligible to nominate directly and reserves the right to cancel/modify/extend discontinue the contest without providing any reason or prior notice.
- Jury Members, employees of KOHLER, The Hotel Show, and others directly or indirectly associated with the competition will not be eligible to participate in the competition.
- Kohler may at any given time, modify the terms and conditions contained on this site without prior notification. You can access and should regularly review the latest version of the Terms & Conditions.
- By submitting your entry, you hereby agree to abide by the Terms & Conditions mentioned herein, our Privacy Policy, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Offline submission through hard copies will not be accepted.
- All Responses must be the original work of the entrants. Responses must not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- All entries must be submitted via our online entry system.

- By entering and taking part in the design challenge, every Participant undertakes, warrants and agrees that he/she has the legal (and other) capacity and ability to enter and participate in the challenge, subscribes to the rules set out in these terms, and conditions and can fully utilize the prizes on offer. These terms & conditions are binding upon him/her, without exception.
- These terms & conditions shall be governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. The Participant consents to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the High Court of United Arab Emirates, in respect of all matters arising out of or in connection with the Competition and/or these terms & conditions.
- This contains acknowledgments of facts by each and every Participant. Each and every Participant must read these statements carefully and ensure that they are correct, as he/she will not be able to deny the truth of the statements. The organizers and others may also have claims against a Participant as a result of the said statements; and/or limit and exclude obligations, liabilities, and legal responsibilities which the Promoter may have, and also limit and exclude the Participant’s rights and remedies against the Promoter and/or other persons.
- Instituted in 2021 as a one of its kind initiative, the Kohler Bold Design Challenge is a platform by Kohler Middle East, to acknowledge and celebrate truly artistic ideas by the design community of the Middle East. The Jury panel includes some of the most renowned personalities in the field of architecture and design globally.

- A faucet design that is unique yet functional. Though Participants don’t have to submit functional details. Only the blueprint of the product and its design must be submitted. Submission can be in the form of a 3D rendering of the faucet showing the form, finish, etc. It is advised, though not mandatory, to share the mood board of the design so that the jury can understand the design intent and language.
- The idea must be submitted before the deadline, i.e, 20th March 2022.
- Open to artists, design students, interior designers, product designers, and architects located in UAE, KSA, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait.
- Only the lavatory faucet design will be considered and not the props around it like the vessel or the mirror, etc.
- Only one entry is permitted by an individual.
- Entry submissions will be judged on the uniqueness of the faucet design.
- Entry submissions will be assessed on the artistic approach and originality.
- Entry submissions by students will be rewarded separately.
- Entries will be judged by a panel of distinguished veterans from the art and design fraternity.
- Every entry must include personal details- name, address, contact number, and email ID along with the necessary upload submissions and a brief about yourself.
- One winner, One Runner-up, and one student winner shall be announced for the challenge.
The faucet designs will be judged by an esteemed jury of veterans comprising hoteliers, interior & product designers. The winning design will be 3D printed and displayed at the Kohler exhibition stand during the
prestigious, The Hotel Show, Dubai, 2022 and many more exciting rewards coming soon.
